Set up KOReader with FileSync

Inkbrary sends books to KOReader through FileSync, a free plugin that runs a small file server on your e-reader. You set it up once with a computer and a USB cable. After that, everything happens over Wi-Fi.

1. Install KOReader

KOReader is a free, open-source reading app for Kobo, Kindle, PocketBook and many other e-readers. If it is not on your reader yet, follow the installation guide for your device. Some readers, such as Kindles, need extra steps first, and the guide explains them.

2. Install the FileSync plugin

Download filesync.koplugin.zip from the latest FileSync release and unzip it: Latest FileSync release

  1. Connect your e-reader to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Copy the filesync.koplugin folder into KOReader's plugins folder: koreader/plugins/ on a Kindle, or .adds/koreader/plugins/ on a Kobo (.adds is a hidden folder at the top of the reader's storage). On other readers, look for the plugins folder inside the koreader folder.
  3. Eject the reader safely and restart KOReader.

3. Start FileSync

  1. Connect the reader to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone or iPad.
  2. In KOReader, open the top menu and tap the gear icon, then Network › FileSync.
  3. Tap Start file server. A QR code and the reader's address appear on screen.
  4. Back in Inkbrary, the reader shows up on its own. If it does not, type the address shown on the reader.

Keeping it up to date
